A few weeks ago I was sitting at my scrap desk looking over my storage closet. While it was organized, I couldn't get over how visually cluttered it looked. Plus, the old closet system had a broken brace and wasn't safe anymore. I started to purge all of the items I hadn't used in a year. I figured if I hadn't used it in that time, I wasn't going to. I'm not going to lie, it was hard. I like holding on to my old things - they're like scrappy memorabilia to me.
Here's a look at the before:
And here is the after:
I needed a relatively cheap storage option, since we plan on selling our house in the near future. I bought these 2 and 3 drawer cubes at my local craft store to hold all of the things that I kept after the big purge. The glass jars are from Ikea and they hold my buttons, washi and mists. The drawers hold themed and non-themed embellishments, adhesive, sewing supplies and photos.
The red fabric and wire baskets are from Amazon. They are actually bathroom organizers and are 12" tall. They hold tools, photo supplies, altered items (basically anything bulky).
The top row shelf holds brown fabric bins from Target. These hold paint, art mediums, punches and camera equipment.
I love the streamlined look of the closed storage. It's functional, visually clean and adds a pop of color to the room. Purging my room and getting rid of all the excess has really sped up my scrapbooking process. Everything has a home and I'm not overwhelmed with more things than I could ever use. Who know that a little redecorating could jumpstart my creativity! - Nancy
