Our theme in the Garden this month is All About Me. We've asked the Garden Girls to share a little more on this topic. Here is Michelle De Leon!
Our theme this month is All About Me. How do you make sure to get yourself in a photo? I feel like this may be a cheap answer, but my boyfriend's hobby is photography so I always have an abundance of photos of myself. Getting photos together is a bigger problem as either one of us will be behind a camera. To get around this, we try to take "selfie" photos together, use a camera remote, and sometimes ask a friend or stranger to take a quick snapshot for us. Another way to capture us in a photo together is to photograph different parts, and not worry about a full-body or face shot. We have a few photos of hand-holding or our feet together, which are actually some of my favourites.
What is a recent favorite photo that includes you? This photo of my boyfriend and I is a recent favorite. It was from a summer trip, and one of the cameras he had on hand was an old polaroid camera. It's not the most technically great photo, but I'm glad we found another member of the tour to take the quick photo of us together.
Do you struggle with scrapbooking about yourself? If so, how do you overcome it? When scrapbooking about myself, I struggle with the journaling. Some of the thoughts and feelings I want to journal feel too private to share explicitly on a page, and I have trouble deciding how to document these things. For this page I created with a New Year's theme of then & now, I ended up placing my journaling on a journaling card and tucking it behind the photo. I liked that I could still document my thoughts with this hidden journaling method.
What products feel like "you" that you reach for when scrapping yourself? I am drawn to light, neutral colours in both my scrapbooking and style in general. I tend to reach for neutral patterned paper for backgrounds and layers, and I am always a sucker for gold accents and vellum!
How have you scrapbooked yourself in the past? For the June Two Peas in a Bucket theme of "Milestones", I decided to focus my page on a personal milestone. Although it may not have been a big deal to other people, it was important to me and I am glad that I created a page to document my personal achievements.
When creating a page for this month's theme of "All About Me," I wanted to journal about some thoughts and feelings about life right now. It was mainly about trying to find balance in my life, but I felt that it was a bit personal so I used a vellum pocket to hold my journaling to keep it somewhat hidden.
