Today we're getting to know newly added Garden Girl Melissa Stinson. Welcome, Melissa!
---
About me: I'm a 32 year old software engineer married to a full-time
graduate student (and med school hopeful). We don't have kids, so my
scrapbooks are filled with photos of our everyday (and not so
everyday) adventures. We love to travel when our work and school
schedules line up to allow it, and when we're at home we're always
into something (the current project is DIY'ing a new kitchen from the
floor up). I love documenting all of those things in my albums and
having them to look back on. It's amazing how many things my
scrapbooks remind me of that I would have otherwise forgotten!
About my family: My husband and I have been married for almost 11
years, and recently we decided to send him back to school full-time to
finish his Master's in microbiology with hopes of getting into medical
school. It's been a long and non-traditional route getting him there,
but it'll be so worth it in the end. We don't have any children and
spend our time when he's not in school (and I'm not at work) DIYing
around the house, traveling, or reading like crazy on whatever new
subject interests us at the moment (currently it's sailing).
About my style: I never know quite what to call my style and usually
just settle for "simple and eclectic." I like lots of white space
(though often that space isn't quite so white as I love using
patterned paper backgrounds), just one or a few small photos blocked
together on a page, and lots of little bits like die cuts, stamped
images, tags, and another other tiny pieces that I can layer up. I
love lots of COLOR especially, and am working in 2013 toward
incorporating more of it into my pages.
My top 5 papercrafting essentials:
Cardstock (one goal for 2013 is to use more colored cardstock and not
just neutral)
Adhesive (love my trusty Scotch ATG)
Silhouette (this versatile cutter has become a staple of my
papercrafting since I got it a year ago)
Patterned Paper (I'm a sucker for a good B-side print)
Computer (I edit all of the photos I scrap, so Lightroom is a must,
and in 2013 I also have a goal to use more digital brushes and to
print more of my journaling)
On any given day you might find me...working, exercising (running and
weightlifting), reading, scrapbooking, or playing a silly dance game
(Star Wars Kinect is the current favorite) on my XBox.
My debut Garden layout: Almost 365 days a year
